How Does the OMG Sales Assessment Compare to tools like DISC or Myers-Briggs?

It's a common question, because many organisations already use tools like DISC or the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and want to know why they'd need another assessment. The short answer: those tools and the OMG assessment are designed for different purposes, and only one of them predicts sales performance.

DISC and Myers-Briggs are general personality tools. They describe how a person tends to communicate, behave, or process information. This can be genuinely useful for self-awareness, team dynamics, and communication styles. What they were never designed to do, however, is predict whether someone will actually succeed in a sales role. There is no "right" personality type for sales - high performers come in every profile - so using a personality test to make sales hiring or development decisions can be misleading.

The OMG Sales Assessment is sales-specific and predictive. Rather than describing a personality type, it evaluates the factors that directly drive sales results: Sales DNA (the beliefs and emotional makeup that support or sabotage selling), sales-specific competencies across each stage of the process, and Sales Will (drive, commitment, and coachability). It's built to answer practical questions - can this person generate new business, reach decision-makers, sell consultatively, and close? - and it's validated against the performance of millions of salespeople.

In short, DISC and MBTI tell you what someone is like; the OMG assessment tells you how someone is likely to perform in a sales role. For self-awareness and team communication, personality tools have their place. For hiring, developing, and coaching salespeople, a purpose-built, predictive sales assessment gives you far more reliable insight,

which is why we use OMG for sales evaluation and recruitment.
